AdWords – About Quality Score

AdWords – About Quality Score

In a clever way to deliver a better product to their customers, Google Adwords have come up with the quality score. As explained below.

“A Quality Score is calculated every time your keyword matches a search query—that is, every time your keyword has the potential to trigger an ad. Quality Score is used in several different ways, including influencing your keywords’ actual cost-per-clicks (CPCs) and estimating the first page bids that you see in your account. It also partly determines if a keyword is eligible to enter the ad auction that occurs when a user enters a search query and, if it is, how high the ad will be ranked. In general, the higher your Quality Score, the lower your costs and the better your ad position.

Quality Score helps ensure that only the most relevant ads appear to users on Google and the Google Network. The AdWords system works best for everybody—advertisers, users, publishers and Google too—when the ads we display match our users’ needs as closely as possible. Relevant ads tend to earn more clicks, appear in a higher position and bring you the most success.”

It would appear the Google are saying that you cannot buy your way to the top. It would appear that you need to have a quality website to insure your adwords are successful.

Networks Are A Bit Confusing

Networks are bit confusing especially as there are so many of them. I tried Xing for while on a recommendation, but it seems to be a bit restrictive unless you pay full whack. Of course 5 Euros a month is not a great deal to pay. So may be one should just pay that and be happy.

It is cheaper after all that ecademy.

If price is not question which one should you use? I quite often see people posting all sorts of job adverts/advertisement in forums on LinkedIn. I know this happens on all networking sites. I suspect still that the problem is deeper than the question which site should you use?

As one may still not be sure whether they are reaching the most productive audience (or any audience). In short I guess it is better to have all these discussions on your own website.

Which is what work connexions is about, we can build that sort interactive market for business consumers in there choosen field.

Ted – Inspired Talks by The World’s Greatest Thinkers and Doers

I know that it has been around for a while. For the last couple of weeks I have been watching more and more videos that they have put up on UTube. I figured that it was worth a mention here as it was innovative and still quite new. Some of these great speakers that Ted promote are talking about everything from science to environment to blogging and are interesting quality video posts. They can match the BBC at its most interesting. Each web episode is about 20 to 30 minutes and is usual sponsored by a major blue chip company like BMW. It is interesting that such episodes to do with walking and the environment are sponsored by a potential causes of the damages such as car manufactures. May be it is there way of positive branding. Not that BMW needs to do positive branding as their cars are considered to be the best. I guess all in all it works. Highly recommend having a peek at the catalogue.

Here is a taster about Neuroanatomist Jill Bolte Taylor, when she had an opportunity few brain scientists would wish for: One morning, she realized she was having a massive stroke.

BlogRush Is Shutting Down, How Wierd Is That?

It is the wierdest message in business I have seen posted on the internet. First Mr Reese goes on about how he has arrived at the decision.

“After careful consideration, we have decided to shutdown the BlogRush service. If you have the widget code on your blog you will need to remove it.”

Then he talks about how he has received offers but none of them held enough integrity for the users. It is admirable but puzzeling.

“We have received several offers & inquiries about acquiring BlogRush, but we are choosing not to go that route. While many might think this is crazy, we truly feel it’s the ‘right’ thing to do for our users. Believe it or not, it’s not always about the money. In fact, BlogRush will have lost a small fortune when it’s all said and done, and it was by choice. There were many things we could have done to monetize the service but we wanted to make sure it was going to benefit our users first.”

What do you make of it?

“Last but not least I want to say that I hope the failure of this service doesn’t in any way discourage other entrepreneurs from coming up with crazy ideas at 4AM (like I did with this one) and from “going for it” to just try and see if something will work. Without trying there can be no success. And as we all know, ideas are worthless without action. The Web wouldn’t be what it is today without entrepreneurs trying all sorts of crazy ideas.”

Press to Play Technology of Ease

Technology should be as easy as pushing the button. This is a great secret that I recently discovered. Being technology minded, I run about a 30 GB mp3 music system that gets distributed around the house. I suddenly found myself recently noticing how long it took…… from actually deciding that I wanted to hear some music or watch a film to that actually happening. The time is considerable, but by the time I have switched on the pc and it has loaded iTunes or windows media player at least 5 mins have passed by. Compared this to pre computer days when you put in a cassette and pressed play. Mp3 might be easier to store but are they easier to actually use? (never mind the sound quality)

This press to play magic goes further I know of people that I have brought expensive cars only to return them because when they turned the ignition nothing happened. I guess if you pay a lot of money and nothing happens you are not going to be very happy. Probably about the same feeling as when you push a button and nothing happens. But this same philosophy trickles down to every product on or off the internet. All we would like is to press to play.
