Offline/Online Which Profile are you?

I was surfing the internet this evening and it struck me how bloggers can give an entirely different image about themselves than what they really are. For example just recently a couple of blogs have been sold for $10,000. While it is nice pocket money, you are not going to be able to retire on it. Is the buyer buying a page rank or the personality. The other side of the coin is there are bloggers out there who have photos of themselves in big expensive cars on their blog with the promise of blog like me and you too can live like me. While the reality is they are probably scratching a living. Still it is better than mugging old ladies.

There is of course another kind of blogger who is totally nuts but their blog is very plain. I do wonder about interacting in this way what are the benefits and what are the pitfalls? If we keep it all in perspective I would not do business with somebody solely on their blog. Which is why executives still travel the globe. Face to face is the still the most trusted way to get business done. As I search the internet I wonder what blogs are telling us about their owners? and what are their reasons for blogging. For me personally it is a development tool.

New Wcx Site Gone Live

One step back two steps forward.  We have gone live over the weekend with the new Business Development site. The key aim with this site is to offer companies and users a place to develop their Business and share resources. The old Work Connexions site was not meeting its user requirements and was proving expensive in time to maintain. Some of the many features on the new site included:

Groups, Email Contact, Advertising, Targeted content, blogging, Work Buddys…

Come over and take a look at www.workconnexions.net

Time Management

There is nothing more true, than the expression if you want something doing give it to somebody who is busy.  Busy people get more done.

Why

Because they are busy.

Allowing enough time will help project management and probably save a lot of stress. Rule of thumb. Add another 50 percent of what every time you have allocated. and you will get done with a smile on your face.

Entre Card Is It The Best Business Website Card Yet?

I have Just Signed up for my Entre Card to see what it is all about. Inspired by  Owen who has just developed a widjet so that you can see the last droppers (visitors). Could this replace blog catalogue and mybloglog who’s traffic to my site has dropped of recently. It seems a very fair system. You gain a credit every time somebody picks up your details by clicking on your Entree Card widget. This is by far the best system yet. The sign up process is very simple and you can get up and running in within  20 minutes. So if you have 20 mins to spare I recommend giving it twirl. I am looking forward to reporting back soon with more in depth thoughts about this. Don’t forget to check out Owen’s widget here.

When Something is too Good it is a Pain

Today I received from my bank my new password to access my account. Actually in order to read this password, I had to get a coin and scratch the letter to reveal the code, Then I had to put the scratched part on a white background. Hey bingo I could read my security code.

In this day and age it seem we have become totally security conscious without any idea of what we are doing, we just do as we are told. In England the major headline a while back has been a story about how two computer disk that were lost by the Inland Revenue. Everybody was screaming blue murder and presumable it is now the end of world. Every person’s name who is on the disk should have had their ID robbed and some hideous crime committed in their name, yet, six weeks later this has not happen? Why is that? Presumable the data really has got lost.

We have tended to develop a way of thinking that we can hold everybody accountable for everything that happens in our lives. The simple matter of the truth is that most of our civil service organisations are slow, and inefficient, they always have been. The fact that we think we have made them accountable, is pure blindness on our part. What makes each organisation distinct will always remain. You can now choose who you would prefer to use for most parts of your business, except for government. Making government accountable outside the democratic vote is just costing taxpayers millions of pounds with no tangible results. If someone is proven to be incompetent in his or her particular job should they be allowed to remain in their position ?

Should we really allow the general public to sue public body organisations when in reality the very individuals that are suing are not making the public bodies more accountable but costing the tax payer more money?

Video Stress at Work

I received these videos in my email inbox this morning. It easy to smile as your bound to feel some degree of empathy for the frustrated subject. It is hardly amusing to be the one suffering with rage against the machine. Without a doubt to much stress at work is very unproductive. How many companies actually have policies for stress related problems at work? How do you deal with stress?

One solution to the problem is highlighted below in the video, one could also try a 5 min walk, chatting to colleague, etc.

Any potential advertiser has to ask themselves?

Any potential advertiser has to ask themselves a few questions?

1. Is this advertising value for money – How much business will I get from it

2. What is it circulation – How do I know it is been circulated correctly

3. Does it reach my potential market – It is not enough that it arrives on their doorstep. Does it get into their hands.

4. How much response can I expect – Well it should pay for itself, if does not either the advert was a bad design or it was the wrong medium.

5. What sort of advertisement is applicable for my market – You cannot be liked by everybody, Target your market.

6. Can I do it more cheaply – Of course one can cut corners with the design, the seize, but usually people can tell.

7. What value has sponsorship – Sponsorship is my favourite, because whoever you are sponsoring will like it for obvious reasons. It shows that you are a part of community in the sense of putting something back.

If you have high value product then you will need high value advertising, Of course as the seller/manufacture you always want to give the idea that your product is excatly that even if you are selling it for 2 pence……
